Having recently gained a place on the framework for Scotland Excel and seeing business growing apace in the region, we have appointed a new operations manager for Scotland who knows the asbestos industry and the area inside out.
Darren Cooper will manage a team of 7 at ASKAMS Edinburgh office; ensuring existing clients in Scotland receive the quality and service ASKAMS has become renowned for. He will also seek out new business opportunities in the region with a view to growing the office further.
It’s the second time Darren has worked with ASKAMS managing director, Stewart McNicholl, who gave him his first break in asbestos when Stewart was regional operations manager at National Britannia.
Stewart said: “I employed Darren as a trainee analyst in 1999 and went back to him knowing he now has 16 years’ experience under his belt, strong regional knowledge and relationships, and a wealth of technical expertise. He also has great enthusiasm and new ideas and I’m confident all of these attributes will significantly benefit our business and clients.”
Darren said: “It was fantastic to have Stewart call me to say he’d like to talk to be about a new role and when I visited ASKAMS head office it quickly became a no-brainer that I’d take the job. From the very start, I liked the company’s ethos and ethics. I was also impressed with the way ASKAMS operates in a serious and competitive world, but manages to be extremely relaxed and friendly.
“ASKAMS is well up on the Scotland Excel list and that gives us potential for massive work opportunities in the region. In addition to this, I also have plans under my belt for growing the office with other new business wins. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead as I seize this opportunity to progress my career with a well-respected and fast growing asbestos management company.”
Darren joins ASKAMS from Santia where, for the last four years, he held the position as project manager for national contracts and Scotland.
