ASKAMS offsets 100% of fleet carbon
With a fleet of some 45 vehicles driving the length and breadth of the country to carry out our essential compliance work, it is import to us that we offset our carbon emissions for the good of the environment.
Carbon offset is weaved through everything we do, but in the case of our fleet, we’re delighted to announce that we have managed to offset 100% of the carbon it has produced.
In recognition of our carbon footprint, ASKAMS has invested in high quality native woodland creation in the UK, certified by the government’s Woodland Carbon Code, which not only captures CO2 but also contributes to local communities and creates new habitat for biodiversity. The woodland AKSAMS has helped to create is at Crairieknowe, which has 12,000 native trees over 4.5 hectares near Thornhill, Dumfries & Galloway.
Investing in the environment is a big part of ASKAMS’s CSR strategy and the business’s ultimate goal is to offset 100% of the carbon it produces in order to achieve accredited carbon neutral status.
It’s a big ambition – but watch this space!
ASKAMS works with Forest Carbon on this project Founded in 2006, Forest Carbon create new woodlands in the UK for organisations wanting to mitigate the impact of their greenhouse gas emissions and make a contribution to wider environmental benefit.
The woodland creation projects we have supported are certified under the Woodland Carbon Code, which is backed by the UK government and means we can be sure of the quality and long term protection of the projects. To date ASKAMS has been responsible for the planting of over 3,000 trees, covering 3.5 acres.
