We’re delighted to have been recognised with silver certification in St Leger Homes of Doncaster’s equality and diversity framework; we already have our sights set on gold for next year.
St Leger Homes manages some 21,000 homes in Doncaster, working with tenants and partners to regenerate the town’s neighbourhoods and bring improvements to customers. ASKAMS has worked with the organisation for two years and the contract has now been extended for a third year until 2016.
St Leger Homes’ contractor’s equality and diversity framework sets out a framework for achieving good practice for all contracting partners in relation to strategies, policies and practices. The framework was devised using acknowledged good practice; it is achievable within a structured time scale and encourages continuous improvement with the award of gold, silver and bronze following an assessment by the contract and compliance team against set criteria.
Mahroof Hussain from St Leger Homes said: “We awarded ASKAMS for several reason; its employment and training programme demonstrates that it does not discriminate against any person or organisation. In addition, its policies make reference to equality groups that demonstrate inclusivity and it also has good package of equality and diversity training.
“Further to this, ASKAMS is able to evidence that they take into account the needs of the individual customer and provide a tailored service, as well as having a good record of involvement with CSR initiatives including St. Leger Homes’ regeneration initiatives.”
ASKAMS’s quality director, Marie Thompson said: “It’s fantastic to have been recognised for our commitment to equality and diversity over the years, particularly as we invest a lot into insuring we are not only compliant with the equality and diversity legislation but also ‘compliance plus’, which we mean we always give that little bit more. Next year we look forward to raising standards again and going for gold.”
